Jesus Christ is God's Son

About 2,000 years ago he stepped down from heaven into the world he had created and took on our humanity - fully God & fully man - like us in every way except without sin.  In our place he lived the life that we all fail to live - perfect love, trust, and obedience to his heavenly Father.  And in our place he died the death that we all deserve to die - bearing the curse, the shame, the judgment for our sin.  And then he rose to eternal life on the third day - conquering sin and death once and for all, that is, for all who will look to him as the Savior they desperately need and as the Lord and God that he truly is.

All of us, no matter who we are, need a Savior.

We've all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

Our sins separate us from God who is perfect and holy. (Isaiah 59:2)

The wages of our sin is death. (Romans 6:23)

And God, in His love even for rebellious humanity, has sent us one!

For while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

This is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sin. (1John 4:10)

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:16-17)

It doesn't matter who you are or what you've done, God's grace is greater still!

"Let us reason together," says the Lord: "though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; thought they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool." (Isaiah 1:18)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1John 1:9)

For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (Romans 10:13)

What must we do to be saved?

We can't earn it or make ourselves good enough to deserve it.

For by grace you have been saved through faith.  And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace, we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (Titus 3:4-7)

We can only receive it by turning back to God and placing our faith in Jesus Christ, His Son.  Jesus has done the work for us.  "It is finished."

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.   For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. (Romans 10:9-10)

He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.  But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:11-13)

Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the  rest of apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"  And Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:37-38)
